Cleveland State SigEps take on Carlson Leadership Academy
Cleveland State SigEps spent the past two days learning more about their new executive board positions while also building their leadership skills. The sessions each exec board member attended pushed them to think what they need to improve on and what steps need to be taken to better themselves as leaders and the chapter as a whole. The Carlson Leadership Academy proved how tight this exec board has become in the small amount of time they are been together because even after the first night closed the exec board and the two non exec board members met with some of their alumni in a conference room and had a hour-hour and a half long meeting talking about member development, programming, the calendar, and recruitment. The different mentors taught this exec board that the small details and wins matter a lot more to a chapter then they originally seem. Learning was not the only thing they did this weekend, they made new connection with other brothers in different SigEp chapters around the region. This chapter ended up winning the Donald C. McCleary Membership Development Award which surprised a majority of the brothers in attendance because the strides they have made in the last year were not the massive goals that the last exec board wanted to accomplish but as stated earlier the small wins like having a massive amount of support from alumni and even having the Mayor of Cleveland sponsor a SigEp event are the small wins that won this chapter the award.
